IVF process

We would like to point out that each patient is treated individually and that is why it is quite impossible to determine the precise course of therapy and prepare the treatment protocol before we know your current health condition, medical history and any other related circumstances.

IVF/ICSI treatment with own oocytes

Our standard procedure is IVF with ICSI fertilization including prolonged cultivation and assisted hatching. The package includes the whole therapy from preparation, oocyte retrieval to embryo transfer as well as cryo for remaining embryos and the first year of their storage.

There is not waiting time, however a couple must consider about 2 months for therapy arrangement. The treatment timing depends on period duration and if it is regular or not.

The treatment schedule is usually following:

  1. Gathering initial medical records.
  2. Initial consultation with our specialist personally or by phone/Skype.
  3. Treatment preparation.
  4. Stimulation process.
  5. Egg collection and sperm sample – if possible we use fresh sample on the day of oocyte pick up but we can also use frozen one – in this case your partner can come to the clinic prior to egg collection and provide sperm sample, which is then cryopreserved. It is also possible to send us the sperm sample via courier.
  6. Embryotransfer – ET is performed after five day prolonged cultivation – 5 days after oocyte pick up.

For IVF/ICSI therapy with own oocytes we require following results prior to the start of stimulation – all could be accomplished locally and sent to us via e-mail:

  1. Hormonal levels from day 2 or 3 of menstrual cycle (FSH, LH) from female partner.
  2. Thyroid results (TSH, fT4) and AMH hormone from female partner.
  3. Vaginal ultrasound scan including Antral Follicle Count from day 2–5 of a menstrual cycle.
  4. Viral screen (HIV 1,2; Hepatitis B including anti HBc; Hepatitis C; Syphilis) of both partners.
  5. Optional: results, treatment plans and other records form previous fertility treatments.

We can use results/reports from previous treatments otherwise we need to obtain those prior to the initial consultation in order to precisely evaluate the treatment proceedings, recommendations and chances. We accept described blood screenings from the past, not older than 6 months.

During the stimulation time a woman needs to undergo 2-3 ultrasound scans of endometrium thickness and measurement of follicular growth and follicle count. These scans can be performed by a local specialist. During the time from egg collection until embryo transfer many couples stay here in the Czech Republic for 6-7 nights. For planning any accommodation in the Czech Republic you can try hotels that we can personally recommend to you.

With planning of the egg collection we are unable to provide the exact date of the procedure more then 2-5 days in advance because the length of stimulation is very individual process and it is very difficult to presume how many days of stimulation are needed until the egg collection. However we can provide you a prediction of ±3 days at the beginning of stimulation, more accurately on the day of second ultrasound.

IVF/ICSI treatment with donor oocytes

Karlsbad Fertility provides the egg donation therapy without any waiting time – there is no waiting list to get a donor. You only have to consider about 1-2 months for the treatment arrangement, the donor match and cycle synchronization.

All donors are investigated according to the EU Tissue and Cell Directive and ASRM recommendations.

The investigation includes:

  • viral screening (HIV 1,2; Hepatitis B including anti HBc, Hepatitis C, Syphilis),
  • genetic analysis (karyotype and cystic fibrosis),
  • hormonal screening,
  • gynecological examination + ultrasound.

Above the legal requirements all our donors must go through:

  • complete range of drug tests.

The donation is anonymous in the Czech Republic according to the law. We match the donor according to your phenotype and your special requirements if any and if general acceptable.

The treatment schedule is usually following:

  1. Gathering initial records.
  2. Consultation with one of our medical doctors personally or by phone/Skype.
  3. Treatment preparation and synchronization of your and donor cycle. The necessary ultrasound scans, which need to be performed during the treatment. Those can be done locally by a specialist and the scan result can be e-mailed to us.
  4. Sperm sample – if possible we use fresh sample on the day of oocyte pick up of your donor but we can also use frozen one as well, in this case your partner can come to Karlsbad Fertility prior to the donor egg collection and provide sperm sample, which is then cryopreserved. This gives us and also our clients more time to organize their travel arrangements. It is also possible to send us the sperm sample via courier.
  5. Embryo transfer – ET is performed after five day prolonged cultivation – 5 days after oocyte pick up.

For egg donation therapy we require following results in advance – all could be accomplished locally and sent to us via e-mail:

  1. Thyroid results (TSH, fT4) from female partner.
  2. Transvaginal ultrasound scan for uterus measures, endometrial thickness and for excluding pathology of reproductive organs.
  3. Sperm analysis.
  4. Viral screening (HIV 1,2; Hepatitis B including anti HBc, Hepatitis C, Syphilis) of both partners.

With planning the egg collection in case of fresh sperm sample we are not able to provide the exact date of the procedure more then 2-5 days in advance because the length of the stimulation is very individual process and it is very difficult to presume how many days of stimulation will be needed until the egg collection. However we can provide you a prediction of 3 days ahead.

For planning any accommodation in the Czech Republic you can try hotels that we can personally recommend to you.
